About Us

Daytime bistro and event space.

Our Story

Beebe’s on the Square operates alongside Hunt Art Gallery as a European-inspired daytime bistro, happy hour bar, and flexible event venue. While serving lunch, coffee, and cocktails daily, Beebe’s also hosts private rentals, curated events, and community gatherings. Together, Hunt Art Gallery and Beebe’s on the Square create a dynamic intersection of food, art, and culture—contributing to the ongoing revitalization of downtown and reestablishing the Brisbane Building as a vibrant place to gather.

Steeped in Rich History

The Arcade Building, once Buffalo’s largest office building, was built in 1855. After a fire in 1893, the Brisbane Building was built in its place. It was designed by Milton Beebe and erected in 1895. The Brisbane is the premier production of the father and son firm of local architects, Milton E. Beebe and Son, who were in demand to design churches and commercial and residential buildings in the city in the last quarter of the nineteenth century. Milton E. Beebe (1840-1922) who was a grandson of one of the first settlers in Buffalo, worked as a carpenter before setting himself up as an architect after the Civil War. His son, Henry, joined him in the 1880s.
